Field Report: Preliminary Section


1. Cover Page
Cover Page Sample

  • On the top portion of the cover page write: Field Report on Visit to (Name of the Area)
  • In the middle portion of the page you can add the sentence: Submitted for partial fulfillment of the requirements of (Your subject and Paper) under (Name of your university)
  • At the bottom of the page mention your Name (optional) Roll No, Registration No, Your Semester, Your Department and the Name of your College  
While designing the cover page on the computer you can make it look attractive by adding the logo of your college/university and a photograph or two relevant to the field trip

2. Acknowledgement
  • Acknowledgment, means giving credit and thanks.
  • The student should write a preface. It should contain a brief statement of the purpose, scope and the organization of the report. In addition to this, thanks may be expressed to those who gave him/her substantial help, guidance, or assistance in completing the fieldwork project.
  • State your Name, Roll No, Registration No, Your Semester, Your Department and the Name of your College at the bottom of the page

3. Certificate
  • This is the authentication that you made the field trip
  • In the certificate mention the name of your Professor/s under whose supervision you made the field trip, the place or places visited and the dates thereof
  • Write the name and designation of your supervising Professor/Head of the Department at the bottom of the page and get it signed with seal

4. Contents
  • This occupies a separate page. It gives the readers a bird’s eye view of the report and enables them to locate quickly each section of it. In addition to providing an easy means of referring to particular sections, it serves as an outline of the subject matters. The chapter headings should be typed in capital letters. These headings appear in the exact words or order that they are in the report, each followed by the correct page citation.
  • This page will show points number 5 to 10 mentioned in the next section, their sub-headings if any and their respective page numbers
